Rebuild
Our National Security On Peace
For every enemy we kill, we create ten more. It is
time to try something else.
Bush's disaster in Iraq (where my own son recently served for a year) has taught us this.
It is compromising our military, draining our economy, threatening our security, and bleeding our humanity.
There currently are several bills pending in the House that call for bringing our troops home, upon varying terms and timetables, offered from both parties.
The Democratic freshman incumbent and Republican challenger support none of these bills.
I support -- and will co-sponsor, work to pass, and vote for -- all of these bills, while personally favoring the more immediate plans. We need to bring some end to this war, and not let it go on forever. A majority of our citizens now realize this war is not working.
I will work to bring our troops home, and take care of them when they get here. This is true support.
Also, I came out in strong and public opposition to the planned invasion of Iraq from the earliest days the Bush administration started talking about it, at a time when public opinion was over 80% in favor of the war.
I was never "fooled" by the "faulty intelligence" they presented to us to justify this precipitous act.
I will work in Congress to prevent the next Iraq, the next unnecessary and ill-conceived war. Neither the Democratic incumbent, nor the Republican challenger, will assert their constitutional duty in this way. resources • September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows |
